Padres Pitcher Sick of Dodgers Being Touted as 'Unbeatable Force'
Joe Musgrove has been able to step up to a leadership role during his time with the San Diego Padres and it was believed that his early absence in the season was part of the team's struggles. Even though their play hasn't immediately changed with his return, it's great to see him not being afraid to call out the team when they need it.
Yet another loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers following Saturday's outing is just embarrassing. This game is added to the growing list of ones that the Friars allowed to get away from them and to make it worse, another one that Julio Urias took them down.
Juan Soto and Ha-Seong Kim both went deep but it did not matter... the returning J.D. Martinez clearly set the tone in the first inning with a three-run dinger and LA never really looked back.
Every game that San Diego allows to get away from them means that the excuse of 'It's still early' will hold far less weight. Manny Machado got his money, he needs to start producing and start guiding the same clubhouse that he lead over the 111-win Dodgers in the postseason last year.
Musgrove did not have the best outing against LA last night as stayed on the mound for five innings and allowed eight runs with four hits with that homer from Martinez.
He was very critical of his own performance along with the rest of the teams' following the loss. Musgrove hates how the energy is giving off vibes that LA is once again a dragon that cannot be slayed.
“I’m tired of hearing that (expletive), to be honest with you,” pitcher Joe Musgrove said Saturday evening. “It’s baseball. These guys are a good team. We’re not playing sloppy, bad baseball. We’re losing by a run or two. We’re in games. But I think we as a group in here we’ve got to stop talking about these guys like they’re some unbeatable force. We beat these guys in the playoffs. We’ve beat them in big situations. We’re just not playing very well right now. So we’ve got to play better baseball.”

One last shot on Sunday folks, Padres need to get it done for all the fans watching with their mothers.
