With the offseason really getting into the swing of things for the San Diego Padres, one of the biggest questions surrounding this team is what they will do with star outfielder Juan Soto.

There has been a ton of buzz around the possibility of the team moving Soto this winter, with the Friars not expected to sign him long-term. He is entering the final year of his contract, so it would make sense for the Padres to move him while his value is at its highest right now.

MLB writer Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report gave one trade idea for each team in baseball, and it involves star outfielder Juan Soto being sent to an AL East squad.

“Trade Proposal: RHP Drew Thorpe, RHP Will Warren, OF Everson Pereira, IF Jared Serna acquired from the New York Yankees in exchange for OF Juan Soto”

Per Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report

San Diego is going to have plenty of suitors if they decide to put Soto onto the trade block, but everything has pointed to the Yankees being one of the more aggressive teams. New York needs to make a splash this offseason after an extremely lackluster season that saw them missing the postseason.

This would be a nice haul for the Padres to set themselves up down the line. They could also move some of these pieces in a different deal to get a more established player. But this seems like a good deal for both sides.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers gave up Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong to acquire Mookie Betts at a similar point in the arbitration process. The proposed package above doesn't have a proven MLB piece like Verdugo, but Pereira could push for the starting left field job in 2024, while Drew Thorpe and Will Warren are both Top 100-caliber pitching prospects and Jared Serna had a breakout season in the lower levels of the minors.”

Per Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report

San Diego needs to shed salary this offseason, and trading Soto is a great way to do that. They have some big decisions to make this winter, and making a choice on what to do with Soto could help set the tone for the entire offseason strategy.
