Padres Rumors: Insider Says Blake Snell Knows Friars Aren’t Bringing Him Back This Year

Does he know something we don't?

Padres ace Blake Snell finished his dominant season with the NL Pitcher of the Month award for September.

Now set for free agency, one insider believes that Snell already has one foot out the door despite no true knowledge of the lefty's true plans this winter.

Cy Young winner Blake Snell, who knows that the Padres aren’t bringing him back, says he’ll forever be perplexed why the Padres underachieved perhaps more than any team in baseball history.

Speculation and simply going off a hunch has never panned out for any insider, so unless Snell told Nightengale this information specifically, it's a little questionable.

While true that the Padres underachieved in 2023, Snell's efforts proved his end of the bargain every fifth day for Bob Melvin's rotation.

The former Ray could very well earn the second Cy Young of his career after what was by far his best season in San Diego.

Traded during the 2021 offseason, Snell's presence for the past three years in the Padres rotation has been a great success.

Snell threw over 436 innings with the Padres over three seasons and improved in every single season while at Petco Park.

After an ERA north of 4 in his first season, that mark now sits at 2.25 after Snell's third season on the team.

This year marked his best so far and if this is the final chapter of his Padres' tenure, what a season it was.

The surefire Cy Young winner will have plenty of suitors by the winter, but the 30-year-old will decide on his terms.

Nobody truly knows where he'll go, but the Seattle native certainly won't allow Nightengale to make the important choice for him.
