The San Diego Padres caught a much-needed win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday and even though they still didn't see a ton of success at the plate, Juan Soto's fourth inning bomb was more than enough.

Nick Martinez was excellent at the pitching mound for the Friars as he lasted seven innings and allowed only three hits with no runs and struck out six of Atlanta's batters.

Manny Machado was just excellent on defense the entire game and he continues to show his insane value at that third base position. Even as he works through this early season slump, he holds it down on the infield.

Take a look at this double play that started with him to take the game to the second inning.

Ha-Seong Kim continued this is in the second inning.

Then things did get a little scary in the third inning as the Braves were able to load up the bases.

Austin Riley stepped up to the plate ready to drive in some runs but Martinez was not about to let that happen.

And then it was Juan Soto's time to shine. The fourth inning rolled around and with all of the recent noise about his failure to garner hits and knowing that San Diego only had one run over the last three games, he came through.

Soto took Charlie Morton deep and put the Padres up 1-0.

Machado was not about to let the Braves even think about tying the game.

He continued his stellar defense in the seventh inning.

San Diego finally shook off a three-game losing streak and even though strides still need to be made, this is great to see especially for Juan Soto. The Padres are back in action tomorrow against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Fernando Tatis Jr. will be back in action finally!
