Padres Score: San Diego Loses After Blake Snell Drops Lead, Offense Struggles
Coming off of a big win against the New York Mets to tie the series, the San Diego Padres came into Wednesday morning's match looking to continue that momentum. Unfortunately, their offense continued to be stagnant and Blake Snell failed to hold onto an early lead. The Friars Β .
Multiple home runs were given up to New York and as the game unraveled, they clearly took control of it and San Diego had no answer.
Padres fans were excited off the jump as Juan Soto started off the first inning with a huge two-run home run that brought Manny Machado to home plate with him.
The energy was rocking after this hit, it's his third deep one of the year.
Later at the bottom of the first inning, the Padres got themselves out of a scary situation in which the Mets had all of the bases loaded up just like the game before.
However, Blake Snell and Manny Machado teamed up to ensure nothing would come out of that,
However, the third inning is where Snell started to fall apart a bit.
Brandon Nimmo was able to connect on a double to centerfield in the second inning and brought in Tommy Pham for their first run of the game.
He then gave up a solo home run to Francisco Lindor that tied the game 2-2.

Pete Alonso then took the lead of the game and the current list of home runs thus far with his bomb in the fifth inning.
Up to this point, the Friars were seeing virtually no plate success and it wasn't helping all the runs that Snell was giving up.
New York then added two more runs and extended the lead 5-2 thanks to two singles from Nimmo and Pham.
Escobar and Alonso were brought in thanks to these hits.
The score did not change from here on out and even though the Padres' bullpen did not allow any more runs, they couldn't drive in any more either.Β
San Diego loses the series 2-1 to the Mets and they'll start a new one Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers at 6:40 pm PT.
