The San Diego Padres are taking things one day at a time but losing to the New York Mets in their first matchup of the year didn't leave a good taste in their mouth. With a 4-2 win on Tuesday, the Friars now tie the series and saw improvement from the day before.

Ryan Weathers... talk about getting yourself out of some scary situations. The LHP was able to go for five innings and only allowed one run from the Mets. Prior to this game, San Diego had not recorded a run themselves yet in the series.

But let's take a look at how this win exactly played out.

The Mets actually had the bases loaded at the bottom of the first but Ryan Weathers set the Friars up for an easy double play with a smooth change-up to send them to the next one.

Exactly the type of tough situation I was eluding to.

Mark Canha was able to break the silence though in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly that brought Fransisco Lindor in for the first run for either side.

But Manny Machado was not about to his guys go out sad again. He hit a speeding double down the line that allowed Luis Campusano and Brandon Dixon to find their way to home plate.

Of course, he hit his signature celebration afterwards that is only growing in popularity.

Luis Campusano also came up huge down the stretch for the Friars as he put pressure on the opposing pitchers.

He was able to connects on three hits for the night.

But Xander Bogaerts wasn't satisfied with the score being so low. He was one of the Friars who voiced his unhappiness with getting shut out on Monday and he showed it, actions do speak louder than words.

X-Man bombed a fly ball into left field at the top of the ninth inning that resulted in Campusano scoring along with him.

He continues to be their number one option at the plate, take a look for yourself.

The entire energy was sucked out of Citi Field as Bogaerts extended the lead to 4-1 and it stayed that way only for a bit. Josh Hader closed out the match at the pitching mound for the Friars and allowed a single from Tommy Pham to make the game 4-2 when Pete Alonso ran in.

Catch them back in action on Tuesday in an early game against the Mets once again at 10:10 am PT.
