Padres Spring Training Sights and Sounds: Fernando Tatis Jr Shows Off a Cannon in Throw to Manny
For Padres fans looking for a glimpse of things to come in San Diego, look no further than outfield drills on Friday. Fernando Tatis Jr is working on his transition to the outfield and showed off a thing of beauty Friday morning.
Stationed in right field, Nando unleashed a rocket throw to Manny Machado at third base. He hit Manny on the fly and it was truly eye opening.
Tatis spoke with reporters on Thursday about his move to the outfield and shared that he does, in fact, enjoy the grass. He added that he loves the freedom to "go and be an athlete" in center field, which is more of his preferred position.
Of course, the 24-year-old superstar has said all the right things at camp (and at FanFest) so far after losing his primary position on the infield at shortstop to offseason acquisition Xander Bogaerts. Fernando is ready and willing to do whatever the team needs this season and just wants to win.
While he'll be playing games all during the Cactus League season, he still has to serve the final 20 games of his 80 game suspension before joining the club in earnest for the first time since October of 2021.
