Padres Star Outfielder Speaks on Significance of Playing MLB Games in Mexico
We're only 21 games into the season, Padre fans; however, one reporter is already looking forward to a series at the end of the month. After Wednesday's win against the Atlanta Braves, Juan Soto spoke to the media, and one reporter asked about their upcoming series against division rivals San Francisco Giants.
San Diego will take on the Giants at the end of the month; however, it won't be at home or in the Bay Area. The game will be played in Mexico City, Mexico. It will be a short two-game series for the fans in Mexico, and Juan Soto said he's looking forward to playing across the border.
"It's going to be pretty fun. It's always great to be seen in another city, state. Visiting another country is really exciting; it's going to be great for baseball. It's going to feel like going back to the Dominican."
The Dominican Republic superstar and his team will face the Giants in a two-game mini series on the last weekend of April. This will be their first meeting of the season against San Francisco.
The series will take place at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu Besibol. The last time the Padres played in Mexico was in 2018 against their rival LA Dodgers in the city of Monterrey. This will be the Friars fifth time playing down south, one of them being a two-game exhibition series in 2016 against the Houston Astros.
It should be a fun-watch and we hope for some good baseball for the people in Mexico.
