In this story:

The San Diego Padres did their thing and then some on offense as they recorded 10 runs on 17 hits. We haven't seen this kind of offensive outburst since the Mexico City series. Nonetheless, the Padres are capable of these outbursts, and it was a great thing to witness.

Moreso due to who was on the mound. The NL May Pitcher of the month, Michael Wacha, was on the hill in Wednesday's early start and was dominant. In his starts in May, the Friars' offense gave Wacha little to no help, and when talking to the media after the game, he said he appreciated the help.

“I haven’t seen that trend,” Wacha said of the offense’s on-and-off performances. “But it was great seeing the guys break out and score a lot of runs. It’s a lot nicer pitching with those leads and going out there and being able to stay on the attack as a pitcher … get the guys back in the dugout as quickly as possible.”

Wacha was as good as he's been pitching six innings, zero earned runs, seven strikeouts, and only allowed one walk to earn his sixth win of the year.

The Padres were playing their game on Wednesday. Although this is the type of performance we expect from them, we know this isn't realistic every single time. However, they are capable of this type of performance more times than not.

Wacha loved what he saw, and the fans loved what they saw, but can they play to the same level on a consistent basis now? We shall see.
