Padres' Star Pulled From KC Match Early, Fear of Fracture

In this story:
We have some super unfortunate news coming from the San Diego Padres' late match against the Kansas City Royals.
Just when it looked like maybe the Friars could be off on the right foot again to start a new week as they took a quick 3-0 lead, Manny Machado took a wild pitch directly to his hand and had to be yanked out of the game in the fourth inning.
Take a look for yourself.

Machado has already been going through his own batting struggles to start off the year so an injury is the last thing he needs.
Based on his reaction and plays we've seen in the past, the initial diagnosis from those who watched was that the 30-year-old slugger may have sustained a fracture. He is all too familiar with those in the past to his ankle and other joints so this would be a huge blow.
However, Sports Injury Central did provide a positive update.
X-rays will confirm but Pro Docs do not believe fracture occurred.

"Was hit by pitch and left the game after initially staying in, based on location/mechanism/force would expect X-rays to be negative, worry for swelling on bottom hand which is important for grip and could have short term absence but hope to avoid an IL stint - while Machado's injury could potentially impact his performance due to compromised grip strength, the hope is for a quick recovery with minimal time away, immediate concern lies in managing inflammation and ensuring no underlying fractures, if treated properly he should return to his full potential shortly possibly avoiding an IL stint"
We'll be sure to keep you guys updated as we know more!
