When the San Diego Padres made the move not too long ago to bring in Gary Sanchez not too long ago, most people knew that it would work out one way or another. At the very least, he'd be a much more reliable option stepping up to the plate seeing that Austin Nola was in the midst of some of his worst baseball ever and Luis Campusano has remained out recovering from surgery.

But Sanchez has been special and already has built strong connections with a number of his teammates. The New York Mets were obviously looking to go in a different direction with their own roster and the Friars gladly welcomed him with open arms. He has been electric with his at-bats thus far and already has three homers in just seven games with the clubhouse.

The Friars were in danger of losing another series to the Chicago Cubs most recently but Sanchez stepped up along with Manny Machado and refused to let that happen as San Diego came out on top 5-0 on Monday and walked away with a tie instead.

Chemistry Is Already Looking Immaculate

To thrive as a catcher, Sanchez needed to come in and execute his defensive duties as well with Nola already being on very thin ice with the coaching staff.

However, he has looked unfazed in his first couple of showcases with the Padres and Blake Snell loves what he's seen from Sanchez in this short period of time. The two were paired up together and Snell believes that he has lived up to his reputation, referring to him as smart and talented.

“I’ve always heard about him offensively, but I love him,” Snell said after a 5-0 win over the Cubs. “He blocked, like, a 97-mile-an-hour fastball in the dirt. I threw a curveball and it hit the grass and he blocked it. I mean, I don’t see the problem. Even calling the game, we had a game plan; we executed. I even put a lot of trust in him, like, what do you want? Like, you tell me. … I trust him on that. He’s smart.”

The Seattle Mariners will get the next taste of Sanchez and from what we've seen so far, he is ready.
