After being designated for assignment by the Padres last weekend, relief pitcher Nabil Crismatt has signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he announced on Instagram Friday afternoon.

"Im thrilled to announce I”ll be now representing the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and I look forward to what God will bring my family and me in this new chapter."

Crismatt, who was in his third season with the Padres, only played in seven games in 2023 and sported a less-than-sightly 9.82 ERA across 11 innings. Injury might have played a factor in Crismatt's slow start to 2023, as the 28-year-old missed time with a strained left hip and posted a career-low 88.8 mph fastball on average.

Last season, Crismatt proved to be a valuable bullpen asset, contributing 67.1 innings and holding a 2.94 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 2022.

Crismatt thanked the city of San Diego for hosting him and his family for the last three years.

"There are no words that can describe how grateful my family and I are with the city of San Diego, fans and the amazing organization that gave the me the opportunity to do what I love the most for the last 3 years. It’s been a pleasure to have represented this team and I take with me a bag full of learnings, teammates that became forever friends and fans that really made me feel supported through everything."

According to the MLB transactions log, Crismatt will play for the Diamondbacks' Triple-A squad in Reno, NV. The Diamondbacks are first in the NL West division, 11.5 games ahead of the Padres.
