The Padres and Their Fans Are Becoming Weary of Their Recent Struggles

The Friars aren't playing good baseball; they know it, their fans know it, and pretty much everyone else does too.

Through 44 games, your San Diego Padres are in a position none of us would've predicted. They stand at 20-24 and are in fourth place in the NL West. Things look bleak for the Friars, and they've shown no sign of turning things around at the moment.

In their last 12 games, the Padres are 3-9, and the offense has been a colossal disappointment. The numbers show they're struggling, their record shows it, and the fans and players also know it. Padres DH Matt Carpenter spoke with Padres insider Dennis Lin and said he can feel the anxiety from the fans.

“You can feel the angst from the fans, and we feel it,” Matt Carpenter said. “It’s just a very unhappy time in the clubhouse and anyone following the team. You know, we haven’t been able to execute like we were hoping we would at this point. So something’s got to get done.”

Fans aren't happy, and rightfully so. Lin had this to say on his Twitter account after the Padres dropped two out of three to the Kansas City Royals.

The boos were raining down, and they deserved it, according to Padres superstar Manny Machado.

“I don’t blame them. We’re not playing well right now,” Machado said. “There’s an expectation that we had coming into the season, and they expect us to go out there and win every single game. I think collectively as a group we’ve got to go out there and be better as a group. We’ve got to trust the process. Things really aren’t really rolling our way right now, at all.”

The good times aren't happening right now for San Diego, and we hope that all changes soon. By the time you know it, the Friars could be running out of time, and we could be looking at a disastrous of a season.

We're only through a quarter of a season, Padre fans. There is plenty of time left!
