Even though they were highly critical and even booing at some points, the fans never stopped showing up to support the San Diego Padres in their first four games of the season. It took two losses for them to get their rhythm going but they followed up with two straight wins and gave those who bought tickets the show they deserved.

The 2023 season has massive expectations after one of the most active offseason ever. Bringing in multiple stars and securing Manny Machado for 11 years is cause for celebration and the fans all want to be a part of it. Petco Park was attended by about 174,915 people through the first four games of the season (which was a new record for the franchise as every match was a sellout).

This is just amazing to see for a city that isn't considered to be a strong sports one and for the Padres organization who was struggling to consistently get people in the stands years ago. Outfielder Trent Grisham could not believe this news and joined Bob Scanlan after the win Sunday afternoon to express his appreciation to the fanbase.

"They're awesome man, they bring it every day," said Grisham. "We have a blast playing out there so their support means the world to us and keep coming out."

Grisham got going early for the Padres on Sunday with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. He looks to have a huge year for the Padres following a season that him win a Golden Glove.

This isn't the first time that Friars fans have been commended for their energy, other than the boos of course. San Diego State University is currently on an incredible run and will play on Monday in the NCAA March Madness Championship game against UCONN. While the Padres take care of baseball, they take care of basketball.

Petco Park put together a viewing experience before Saturday's game and the crowd was electric.

Hopefully, they continue to have reasons to be this excited.
