Xander Bogaerts Returns to Padres Lineup Ahead of Rockies Series
The San Diego Padres are set to kick off a new series against the Colorado Rockies after a solid sweep over the Seattle Mariners. Xander Bogaerts has been sidelined with an apparent wrist injury but will finally return.
It has been an ongoing issue, dating all the way back his 2017 season with the Boston Red Sox. Bogaerts' pain tolerance levels fluctuate and he's usually able to play through any discomfort but it was very evident in his past couple of outings that he was struggling after most of his at-bat's.
A cortisone shot was the temporary solution for him back in March before Spring Training and even though it had been bothering him as of late, it would have been far too soon for him to get another one.
However, he refused to go on the IL and rather just took multiple games off to rest and the rest of the Padres were able to take care of business during his absence.
The lineup ahead of San Diego's 5:40 pm outing against Colorado was released and Bogaerts has returned and will be batting fifth.
It will be huge for the Friars to capture yet another series win and the last time they played in an environment with high elevation, it was Mexico City and we all know how they went.
