Padres Announce Official NLDS Roster For Showdown vs Dodgers

The National League Divisional Series is finally here, and the San Diego Padres are ready to go head-to-head against the Los Angeles Dodgers in an epic battle between fierce rivals.

On the day of their first game against the Dodgers, the Padres officially released their 26-man roster heading into the series.

The most significant name missing from this roster is pitcher Joe Musgroves, who has unfortunately been ruled out of the postseason due to Tommy John surgery. 

Throughout the regular season, Musgrove holds a win-loss record of 6-5 with a 3.88 ERA and 101 strikeouts across 99.2 innings pitched. He was named an All-Star in 2022.

This is a massive loss for the Padres, but it hurts doubly for Musgrove, who wants to be there to help San Diego.

“I’m devastated about not being able to finish what we started,” Musgrove said, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune.

“It’s kind of hard to soak everything in at once,” Musgrove continued. “I’m sure things will get clearer for me over the next few days. Right now, it’s just knowing that that Wednesday game is my last time I’m going to compete with some of these guys as teammates in my career, and that’s hard to swallow.”

Meanwhile, the Dodgers will also be missing one of their best pitchers, Clayton Kershaw.

Considered one of the best pitchers of the modern era, Kershaw’s season came to an early end after being placed on the injured list due to a bone spur in his left big toe. 

In 2024, Kershaw managed a 2-2 record with a 4.50 ERA and 24 strikeouts across 30 innings pitched.
