MLB Tracker: New York Mets Sign Former Yankees Catcher to Deal
May 9: The New York Mets have signed veteran catcher Gary Sanchez to a minor league deal according to the New York Post. Sanchez was with the San Francisco Giants minor league system to start the season, but was released.
Sanchez has had a turbulent career that began with the New York Yankees before being traded to the Minnesota Twins.
In one season with the Twins, Sanchez slashed just .205/.282/.377 before finding himself out of the league.
The Mets are hoping to can find some version of himself that resembles his 2016 and 2017 production levels as they are without starting catcher Omar Narvaez.
