The Philadelphia Phillies (7-11) split their doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox (7-11) on Tuesday and will prepare for the rubber match on Wednesday.

In the first game Zack Wheeler took the mound for the Phillies and pitched 5.0 innings and allowed four earned runs. His season ERA rose to 4.79 but he was awarded the win in a 6-4 victory.

Second baseman Bryson Stott broke a franchise record when he recorded a leadoff single in the first inning to bring his consecutive hit streak to 17 games. It also sparked a big three-run inning for the Phillies.

The bullpen did a phenomenal job in the first game by keeping it scoreless as Gregory Soto, Craig Kimbrel, Seranthony Dominguez and Jose Alvarado all pitched perfect innings.

Nick Castellanos also stayed hot by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk, an encouraging peformance.

The second game did not go as planned. Bailey Falter started the game for Philadelphia and pitched 7.0 innings while giving up just three earned runs. An impressive performance from Falter who entered camp in competition for the fifth spot in the rotation and was awarded the position after prospect Andrew Painter got injured.

However, the offense completely disappeared. The first hit of the night was a Brandon marsh double in the eighth inning to break up a no-hitter.

Again, the bullpen did its job, but without any offensive support, the Phillies had little chance in a 3-0 loss.

Philadelphia will get it's chance to win the series on Wednesday when they play the White Sox in the final game of three at 1:10 p.m. CT. Taijuan Walker will take the mound and face Mike Clevinger.

It should be a good matchup and the Phillies could use the momentum as they head home for a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies that begins Thursday.
