The Philadelphia Phillies offense came alive on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park as they downed the Colorado Rockies 9-3. The win on Sunday helped solidify a 3-1 series victory over the National League West foes.

The Phillies (11-12) saw their winning streak increase to three games and now sit just one game behind .500. Philadelphia got off to a tough start but has since found some consistency in their lineup and the pitching staff seems to have settled in.

Shortstop Trea Turner got the scoring started with a first inning home run, his second of the season. First baseman Kody Clemens then followed up with a solo home run of his own in the third inning to extend the Phillies lead to 2-0. It was the first of the season for Clemens.

Second baseman Bryson Stott launched a two-run homer in the seventh inning to bring the score to 7-3. Center fielder Brandon Marsh then added two more insurance runs with a two-run home run of his own in the eighth inning. The offensive outpouring was an encouraging sign as the surging Phillies are starting to get their feet underneath them.

Zack Wheeler took the mound for Philadelphia on Sunday and turned in a quality start pitching 6.0 innings and allowing three earned runs. He struck out an impressive 11 batters and was credited with the win.

The Phillies bullpen then came in a slammed the door shut on the Rockies as they turned in 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball.

Philadelphia will try and continue their winning streak and carry their momentum into an early week series against the Seattle Mariners. The Phillies will open up the three game series on Tuesday evening at 6:40 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park. Bailey Falter (0-3, 4.50 ERA) will get the nod for Philadelphia.
