The Philadelphia Phillies have a series win under their belt as they defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-2 in Wednesday's rubber match.

The Phillies (8-11) got a much needed win before returning to Philadelphia for a four-game series with the Colorado Rockies that begins on Thursday.

After recording just one hit in yesterdays second game in a double header, the Phillies' offense came alive Wednesday.

Trea Turner got the party started in the first inning when he launched a solo home run for the 1-0 lead. It was his first homer in a Phillies uniform and it travelled 379 feet.

After the White Sox took a two run lead in the bottom of the first, Brandon Marsh mashed one out to left-center to tie up the ballgame at 2-2. Marsh has been swinging the bat very well of late and it was his third home run of the season.

Nick Castellanos and Bryson Stott each recorded RBI hits. Turner also added an RBI-double to his line for the day and extended Philadelphia's lead 5-2.

The Phillies offense was clicking on all cylinders as they recorded a total of nine hits on the afternoon.

Taijuan Walker took the mound for the Phillies and turned in a very encouraging performance. Walker went 6.1 innings pitched and allowed just two runs. He was awarded the win.

Philadelphia's bullpen of Gregory Soto, Craig Kimbrel and Jose Alvarado tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball, the latter earning the save. It was another encouraging outing from the unit as they have begun to right the ship.

Wednesday's series win is the exact thing this team needs to get kickstarted. Philadelphia returns to action against the Rockies on Thursday with first pitch slated for 6:40 p.m. ET.
