Watch: Castellanos and Pache Hit First Home Runs of Season, Gives Philadelphia Phillies Lead
Philadelphia Phillies slugger Nick Castellanos hit his first home run of the 2023 MLB season and his first since Aug. 27 of last year on Saturday against the Colorado Rockies.
His home run in the second inning gave the Phillies the lead over the Rockies. Castellanos home run was of the solo variety and travelled 378 feet to left field. The ball left the bat at 106.7-mph with a launch angle of 23 degrees.
Castellanos has been hot of late slashing .288/.367/.400 through his first 21 games, but the lack of power has been concerning. Getting the first one is a good sign.
Cristian Pache, who came over from the Oakland Athletics right at the start of the season also launched his first home run of the season. A gifted defender, Pache has had trouble finding any success at the plate.
Getting the start Saturday, Pache hit a home run to center field that travelled 421 feet and had an exit velocity of 102.6-mph.
It was the fifth home run of his career and it gave the Phillies a 3-1 lead.
