The Philadelphia Phillies are riding high and now return home to a perfect opportunity against the struggling Colorado Rockies.

The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t figured everything out, but they took positive steps forward on a 4-3 road trip against the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox.

At 8-11, the Phillies will now host the reeling Colorado Rockies for four games.

With a sweep, the Phillies would move above .500.

Even though the Rockies will open Thursday’s game with a 5-14 record – the worst mark in the National League – nothing is guaranteed.

Victories aren’t going to be handed over easily.

Still, Trea Turner had a phenomenal day in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the White Sox with three hits, including his first home run in a Phillies uniform.

In recent games, the bullpen has been much improved.

Jose Alvarado has looked like the best relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. Gregory Soto hasn’t given up a hit or earned run in seven straight outings. Craig Kimbrel has been dominant with five consecutive scoreless appearances.

"The last two days, they've been dynamite," Thomson said. "Soto comes in today, first and second, one out and just shuts 'em right down. Kimbrel gives up the infield hit but other than that, he was fantastic. And Alvarado has just been lights out all year. We won the road trip and get to go home for some home cookin' and our fans, look for some energy and look to win another series."

Brandon Marsh continued his hot hitting with a home run Wednesday. J.T. Realmuto is on an 8-for-19 streak. Turner has been incredibly consistent.

The Phillies dearly miss Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins. But there’s more than enough talent on the 26-man roster to produce runs on a daily basis.

"We got off a little slow and everyone's starting to find their groove, settling in pretty good,” Marsh said. “We've just got to keep this momentum."

It sounds easy to say they’ll do it against the Rockies. The timing is right for a struggling team to enter Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies just need to take advantage of the opportunity.
