Arcia Explodes on Philadelphia Phillies Fans in Latest Antics
There was no question who was going to be public enemy No. 1 when the Atlanta Braves showed up to Citizens Bank Park for Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS.
It was the clear the Philadelphia Phillies took exception to Orlando Arcia mocking Bryce Harper after Game 2, based on what type of outfits they wore on Wednesday.
Phillies fans didn't need an excuse to be raucous heading into the homestand, but they were able to lock onto a target who they wanted to go after every moment of every game.
It was up to the Braves' shortstop to block out that noise and perform, despite over 43,000 Philadelphia fans directing vitriol at him.
Arcia was unable to do that and was caught exchanging unpleasantries with Phillies fans during the game.
Not a good look.
In all fairness to the 29-year-old, having that much negative energy directed at him would be tough for anyone to handle.
It would also be fair to say that he brought it on himself after openly mocking Harper, whether it was meant to be reported by the media or not.
Still, this is professional baseball and it's the job of players to block out the noise of opposing fans and perform for their team.
Arcia was unable to do that.
In the two games at Citizens Bank Park, the shortstop went 1-6, having one singular RBI, striking out twice and getting pulled for a pinch runner in the seventh inning of Game 4.
Frustration for the Atlanta hitters was evident throughout their time on the road. It was an overwhelming atmosphere and the Phillies kept fanning that fire with their play.
Arcia poked the bear.
He couldn't handle the wrath that Philadelphia sent back.
