WATCH: Bryce Harper Incites Bench-Clearing Event Against Rockies
Well, in case you weren't watching the Philadelphia Phillies get shut out 4-0 to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, designated hitter Bryce Haper did something.
However, that something was not at all entirely productive. What happened you ask? If you like wrestling, this might be up your alley. Take a look.
Top of the seventh, the Phillies were scoreless and hitless with runners in scoring position. Rockies reliever Jake Bird, after recording the final out to end the Phillies' at-bat, decided to do what looked like taunting of the visitor's dugout.
Harper took offense and had to be held back after running onto the field and both benches emptied.
Both Harper and Bird were ejected.
Why did tempers boil over? Things were not going the Phillies' way.
First, Bird walked the first two batters he faced, then got Edmundo Sosa to ground into an apparent double play. The Phillies tried to challenge. The Rockies' second baseman Harold Castro may not have had his foot on second. So Sosa could possibly have beaten the throw to first.
But the umpires ruled that the Phillies had not declared their intention to challenge quickly enough and crew chief Jeff Nelson declined to send the play back to New York for review.
The City of Brotherly Love clearly didn't take that love on the road.
