Harper Reveals How He Learned Of Trea Turner's Signing With Phillies
If there was one person who was more excited than any Philadelphia Phillies fan for the arrival of shortstop Trea Turner it was Bryce Harper. The 2021 National League MVP lobbied for months for his team to bring his former Washington Nationals teammate into the fold.
By all accounts, it was an easy sell for Turner who, like Harper, wanted to find a permanent home to ply his trade and win championships. in fact, Turner's 11-year, $300 million was less than what other teams offered him.
Turner wanted a good situation with a strong clubhouse and passionate fanbase.
According to Tim Kelly of Phillies Nation, Harper said he received a call from owner John Middleton that the Phillies had secured Turner's signature.
"Yeah, John called me and said 'Hey, we got your friend!'
"And I went, 'You gotta be kidding me right now?!'"
Now that Harper and Turner have been reunited, Philadelphia boasts one of the most potent lineups in all of baseball. There is going to be a lot of fun in Philly for the next several years with this duo at the helm.
