They might not be a more self aware athlete about how to connect with a fanbase than Philadelphia Phillies' superstar Bryce Harper.

It feels like he always knows what to do and say to make sure he is always one of the fan favorites, almost to the point where it can feel robotic to outsiders.

But that's just who he is. Someone who wears his emotions on his sleeve and wants to be connected with everything going on in the city he represents.

That's been apparent from the moment he arrived in town as a new member of the Phillies.

Sunday was another example of how Harper connects with the fans.

In their game against the New York Mets, cameras showed the superstar wearing Philadelphia Eagles socks while playing in the game.

Everyone knows how big of a sports city that Philadelphia is, and even with all the success of the baseball team so far and how much everyone is looking forward to another postseason run, the Eagles also play on Monday night.

It's a simple thing to wear those socks, but it also shows just how much Harper has embedded himself into the identity of the fans and the city itself.

It would be easy for one of the icons of this generation to just go out and play baseball games, make a bunch of money, then go home.

But that's not Harper.

He doesn't just do it to be liked. He does it so that others know how important he thinks the city's identity is to him.

It's one of the big reasons why Philadelphia continues to rally around him and this team.
