Former Philadelphia Phillies Top Prospect Suffers Injury, Season May Be Over
Former Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe always had the potential to be special. That's why the Los Angeles Angels agreed to send center fielder Brandon Marsh, a Major League ready player, to the Phillies in exchange for O'Hoppe at last year's trade deadline
It seemed like a rare win-win for both sides to start the 2023 MLB season with Marsh displaying power unlike we have seen before and O'Hoppe slashing .283/.339/.547 for the Angels.
But then O'Hoppe suffered a shoulder injury that landed him on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Multiple reports today said that O'Hoppe had suffered a torn labrum that will require surgery.
He is expected to miss 4-6 months which could sideline him for the rest of the season.
It's a devastating blow to the rookie who was off to a hot start. It also complicated matters for Los Angeles as they have lost one half of their starting catchers and will now have to scramble to figure out a contingency plan.
