Latest Injury Update on Philadelphia Phillies Catcher Realmuto
The Philadelphia Phillies had a scare on Friday night when they took on the Colorado Rockies. Catcher J.T. Realmuto tried to turn his double into a triple and slid awkwardly into third base, injuring his finger.
During the game the Phillies announced that he had sprained his right pinky finger, but he remained in the game initially.
After the finger became stiffer, Realmuto exited the game.
Following the game, X-Rays were negative on Realmuto, a sigh of relief for the Phillies who are hoping to avoid any further injury after dealing with a rash of players hitting the injured list this season.
Following the game, manager Rob Thomson gave an update on his catcher.
“He’s a little bit sore, but he’s a lot less sore than he was when he came out of the game, so that’s a good sign,” Thomson said. “I would think that I’ll give him the day tomorrow and then he’ll be ready to go the next day.”
All in all, great news and a bullet seemingly dodged.
Realmuto should be back on the field after a day off on Saturday!
