Legendary Radio Host Will Retire After Phillies Loss
Losing two games at Citizens Bank Park when up 3-2 in the NLCS will be one of the toughest moments in Philadelphia Phillies' franchise history.
Needing one win in their home stadium to reach the World Series, and not coming through, will sting for a long time.
They'll enter the offseason thinking about what could have, and probably should have, taken place in those games.
Whatever changes take place following this year will be determined by the front office, who haven't been shy about being aggressive.
One thing that for sure will change is legendary radio host Chris "Mad Dog" Russo is going to retire from his SiriusXM show.
Prior to Game 6 of the NLCS, he said that if the Arizona Diamondbacks won and advanced, he would retire.
While there were thoughts that it could be a shtick, Russo himself confirmed on social media that he would keep the promise that he made.
"I stand by my promise!" he proclaimed after the Diamondbacks eliminated the Phillies.
This was followed by a few posts referencing his impending retirement from his radio show.
Russo's claim got much more attention after Arizona's manager Torey Lovullo said that he looked forward to putting him into retirement.
According to the controversial radio host, he will only step away from his SiriusXM show, but will continue to appear on television programs like ESPN's First Take and MLB Network's High Heat.
Whether he will actually discontinue doing his radio show will be seen, but as it stands right now, Russo will no longer be on SiriusXM airwaves after the Phillies lost Game 7.
