Philadelphia Phillies Activate Bohm, Make Interesting Corresponding Move Sunday
The Philadelphia Phillies have needed some extra fire power recently, even in the midst of their promising run.
You can never have enough.
They got that on Sunday when the team activated third baseman Alec Bohm from the 10-day injured list after suffering a left hamstring strain.
President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced that infielder Drew Ellis was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.
Getting Bohm back is a huge boon to Philadelphia's squad. This season Bohm has slashed .265/.321/.403 with six home runs while also playing stellar defense.
Ellis was seen as bench depth in the wake of Bohm's injury. During his stint in the Majors this season, Ellis slashed .222/.364/.556 and looked great in his small sample size with the Phillies.
Philadelphia will face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a rubber match on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park.
First pitch is slated for 1:35 p.m. ET.
Taijuan Walker (5-3, 5.04) will take the mound against Dodgers starter Caleb Ferguson (3-2, 3.68).
