Bryce Harper to Play First Base Friday Against Guardians
Bryce Harper will finally play his first game in the field when he starts at first base for the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
The Phillies are facing the Cleveland Guardians. MLB.com reported Harper's move to first base.
The Phillies have been teasing the possibility of Harper playing in the field since the beginning of the second half of the season.
But, on Friday, it appears to be here. Harper has been a designated hitter since he returned from injury and he's batting .295 with four home runs and 26 RBI.
This is the next step in Harper’s incredible recovery from Tommy John surgery, the fastest for any position player.
Harper started the season on the injured list after he had Tommy John surgery in the offseason for a partially torn UCL ligament, one he played with for the majority of last season as the Phillies made a run to the World Series.
He was cleared to return to baseball 159 days later, beating a record timetable set by Tony Womack (182 days) in 2004.
