Bryce Harper Snubbed in MLB The Show 23 Player Ratings
It has happened again. Philadelphia Phillies superstar and 2021 National League MVP Bryce Harper has once again been underrated. It is official: Harper is the most overrated, underrated player in all of baseball.
MLB The Show 23 launches on March 28 and as such their offline player rankings have been released. Most make sense, with one exception. Bryce Harper's makes almost no sense.
The Show 23 has given Harper a rating of 95 out of 99. Now, that wouldn't seem like a snub until you realize that there are 10 players with a higher rating than Harper. Five of those 10 have 99 ratings to include Paul Goldschmidt and Mike Trout.
Without any disrespect to those players, Harper's rating and ranking amongst the best players in baseball is inaccurate. Not only is Harper a perennial MVP candidate every season (even when he's not fully healthy) but he is perhaps the purest hitter in baseball. If you believe in clutch factor, the face of the Phillies' franchise has trade marked it. Look no further than his performance against the San Diego Padres in Game 5 of the NLCS.
Hopefully these ratings are updated as Harper should clearly be near the top, at least in terms of the other hitters on this list.
Perhaps the developers are taking into account his current injury that will cost him half the season? Even so, Harper deserves better.
