The Philadelphia Phillies have filed a trademark for ""BEDLAM AT THE BANK"" a phrase coined by Phillies radio broadcaster Scott Frankze during the team's postseason run that led them to the World Series per lawyer Josh Gerben.

Frankze made the call during the eighth inning of Game 5 of the National League Championship Series after Bryce Harper hit a home run while sitting on two strikes.

That home run gave Philadelphia the lead over the San Diego Padres and eventually led them to the World Series against the Houston Astros

The atmosphere was electric in the stadium and Frankze's call will go down as one of the most passionate and emotional in all of Philadelphia sports history.

The trademark would cover the phrase under entertainment services, media production services, internet and radio programs, and clothing.

I spoke with Gerben and he elaborated on what the team could do moving forward now that the phrase is being trademarked.

"The trademark filings were made about five months after Franzke's call," wrote Gerben. "It is surprising the Phillies waited so long to make the filings given the historic nature of the moment. The Phillies filed a total of two applications. The first application indicates a plan to offer clothing items using the BEDLAM AT THE BANK phrase. I would expect the team to begin selling BEDLAM AT THE BANK clothing and jerseys soon."

"The second application covers the general services offered by a baseball team. We could see a BEDLAM AT THE BANK theme night or other promotions throughout the year."

The phrase instantly became a rallying cry and popular slogan amongst the Philly faithful. Now it will go down in the annals of Phillies history with this trademark.
