Philadelphia Phillies Make Major Roster Change Ahead of Nationals Clash
The Philadelphia Phillies are shaking things up on Sunday just ahead of their clash with the Washington Nationals.
First baseman Darick Hall is being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valled by the Phillies according to the team.
Kody Clemens has been optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.
Hall has been hitting the cover off the ball with Lehigh Valley, slashing .448/.541/.655 over the past week.
Clemens has performed admirably this season at the MLB level hitting .244/.294/.394. It's a bit of a surprising move considering how productive Clemens has been. However, Hall has been hitting so well in Triple-A he is forcing the issue and is now back in the Major Leagues.
The move comes amid rumors that Philadelphia could be looking to make a big splash with St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt as a potential trade target.
Perhaps the Phillies want to see what they have in Hall for a few weeks before pulling the trigger to upgrade at the first base position.
