Philadelphia Phillies Set Pitching Probables For St. Louis Cardinals Series
The Philadelphia Phillies have set their pitching probables for their three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals, which starts on Friday at Citizens Bank Field.
The Phillies will face the Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. eastern on Friday, 7:15 p.m. on Saturday and 1:35 p.m. on Sunday.
Cristopher Sánchez (1-3, 3.36) is expected to start Friday’s game for the Phillies. He took a no-decision in his last start against Washington on Saturday, as he threw six innings and gave up seven hits and two earned runs. He struck out five and walked none.
He’s posted quality outings in his last seven starts, even though he only had a 1-1 record with a 3.69 ERA. He has struck out 36 and walked eight in that span.
Miles Mikolas (6-9, 4.55) is expected to start for the Cardinals on Friday. He lost his last outing against the New York Mets on Saturday, giving up seven hits and seven runs in 4.2 innings. He struck out four and walked two. He is 1-4 with a 5.89 ERA in his last seven starts.
Zach Wheeler (9-6, 3.70) should start for Philadelphia on Saturday. He absorbed a loss against Washington on Sunday, despite pitching seven innings. He gave up seven hits and four earned runs, while striking out five and walking one. He is 2-2 with a 2.89 ERA in his last seven starts and has struck out 46 against eight walks.
Cardinals right-hander Dakota Hudson (5-0, 3.95) is expected to start for the Cardinals on Saturday. He will be making his sixth start of the season. He took the victory in his last start against the New York Mets on Sunday, giving up five hits and two runs in 5.1 innings. He is 4-0 with a 4.59 ERA in his last seven starts, with 25 strikeouts and 11 walks.
Right-hander Aaron Nola (11-8, 4.49) is expected to start Sunday’s finale. He is coming off a great start against San Francisco on Monday, one in which he threw seven innings and allowed seven hits and two earned runs as he earned the victory. He struck out five and walked one.
He is now 3-2 with a 4.79 ERA in his last seven starts, with 45 strikeouts and 10 walks.
The Cardinals expect to start Drew Rom (0-1, 14.73) on Sunday. He is making his second start of the season and his MLB career. He started against Pittsburgh on Monday and in his debut he threw 3.2 innings. He gave up eight hits, six earned runs and four walks against four strikeouts.
After facing the Cardinals, the Phillies stay hope to open a series with the Shohei Ohtani-led Los Angeles Angels on Monday.
