Philadelphia Phillies Recall Suárez From WBC With Forearm Injury
It's not great news coming out of the Philadelphia Phillies camp this Friday morning, but starting pitched Ranger Suárez has been recalled from Team Venezuela and the World Baseball Classic with forearm tightness.
According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, the Phillies believe it to be minor. Still, forearm tightness is never a term you like to hear in relation to a pitcher. It appears that Suárez will be pushed back a few days, but no other news or plans have been released.
This comes on the heels of an exhibition game that Suárez started in for Team Venezuela against the Houston Astros. Suárez went just 1.2 innings, giving up a run, with three strikeouts and two walks.
Hopefully Suárez can get back on the mound soon as he missed much of spring training last year with visa issues. This spring there was hope he could fully ramp up and be 200-percent ready for Opening Day.
All that matters at this point is his health and subsequent availability.
