Philadelphia Phillies Reinstate Outfielder Marsh From Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated outfielder Brandon Marsh on Sunday in advance of their game with the Washington Nationals in Williamsport, Penn.
The Phillies lost Marsh to a bruised left knee after he collided with the fence while tracking down a fly ball at Citizens Bank Field on Aug. 5.
The Phillies added him as the additional player for tonight’s Little League Classic, so for the moment there is no corresponding roster move.
Marsh played in two rehab games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday and Friday, working as the designated hitter in both games.
In his Thursday debut he went 2-for-3 and drove in both runs for the Iron Pigs in a 2-1 victory. In Friday’s game he went 1-for-3, scored a run and walked twice.
Before the injury Marsh was in the midst of his most productive offense season, as he slashed .281/.367/.460/.827 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 101 games. He’s three home runs and nine RBI away from tying his career high.
Marsh broke in with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 and was dealt to the Phillies at last year’s trade deadline for catching prospect Logan O’Hoppe. Marsh helped the Phillies reach the World Series.
