Philadelphia Phillies Release Injury Update on Andrew Painter
After days of speculation, the Philadelphia Phillies have released information on top prospect Andrew Painter's injury. In a press release, the Phillies announced that Painter under went MRI-Arthrogram on March 3 which revealed a right proximal ulnar collateral ligament sprain.
Painter then underwent a second opinion which confirmed the UCL sprain. That second opinion is likely what caused delay in getting information to the public regarding the injury.
Philadelphia then announced that the team medical staff and Dr. ElAttrache recommended that Painter be shut down for four weeks then resume a light throwing program.
It's not great news, but it is certainly much better than immediately needing Tommy John surgery.
