Rhys Hoskins Injured, Carted Off Field During Spring Training Game
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins suffered a knee injury during the second inning of Thursday's Grapefruit League game with the Detroit Tigers.
Tiger's batter Austin Meadows hit a chopper down the first base line and Hoskins attempted to make a play on the ball in very shallow right field. As he fielded the ball, his knee took an awkward turn and Hoskins hit the ground in visible pain.
EMT's looked after Hoskins before he was carted off of the field.
We do not yet know the severity of the injury, but if he has suffered a significant injury or has to undergo surgery, Hoskins's last game in a Phillies uniform may have just been played.
Hoskins is a free agent after the 2023 MLB season.
It is a solemn day in Philadelphia as we continue to await word on Hoskins and wish all the best in a speedy recovery.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
