The Philadelphia Phillies had an injury scare to third baseman Alec Bohm this week which forced the team to perform an MRI on the player.

On Thursday, the Phillies received good news regarding their third baseman.

According to multiple reports, Bohm suffered a "mild strain" to his hamstring. It's good news as Philadelphia seemingly avoided disaster and the prognosis is much better on Bohm than it was even 12 hours ago.

The team placed Bohm on the 10-day injured list and selected the contract of infielder Drew Ellis from Triple-A Lehigh Valley ahead of their Thursday matchup with the New York Mets

In the meantime, expect Kody Clemens to get the bulk of work at first base. He has been playing well and making the most of his time in the field. Ellis figures to factor into first base when the team faces a lefty on the mound.

Clemens has slashed a respectable .268/.333/.479 this season.

It's unknown how long Bohm could be out for, but a "mild" strain means that he could see a minimal amount of time on the injured list.

However, do not expect Bryce Harper to be taking over at first base in his absence. He likely won't take the field until after the MLB-All Star break at the earliest.
