The Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of making the MLB playoffs for the second consecutive season. It would be their first time making the postseason in back to back years since they did it five times in a row from 2008-2011.

It's been a good season so far for the Phillies who are closing in on 90 wins for the first time since 2011, when they won 102 games.

When Philadelphia's front office signed shortstop Trea Turner to a big contract in the offseason, success like this was what they had in mind.

Now, the superstar is closing in on Major League Baseball history.

He's a perfect 29-for-29 when stealing a base.

That's the most stolen bases without getting caught in MLB history. If he goes the rest of the regular season perfect on his steal attempts, he'll be the new record holder.

The five previous players who weren't caught while stealing over 20 bases was the Phillies' Chase Utley in 2009, Alcides Escobar, Quintin Berry, Kevin McReynolds and Paul Molitor.

Whit Merrifield stole 33 bases in a row during the 2021 season, but was caught stealing four times over the course of the year.

That was the most consecutive steals since Coco Crisp stole 36 in a row during both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Vince Coleman has the record for most steals in a row by nabbing 50 bases in 1989 and 1990.

As Turner is close to making MLB history, it will interesting to see how aggressive he is on the basepaths during the final two series of the year.

He could not attempt a steal and have his name in the record books, or he could continue add to his mark as long as he doesn't get caught.

Something fun to follow as the regular season winds down.
