The Philadelphia Phillies missed out on another potential outfield bat as the trade deadline approached, as the Colorado Rockies dealt Randal Grichuk to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angeles got Grichuk and first baseman C.J. Cron from the Rockies, further fortifying the Angles for a run with pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani.

Colorado received two pitchers — right-hander Jake Madden and left-hander Mason Albright.

The Phillies are looking for a bat that can play the outfield as the deadline approaches on Tuesday. Grichuk would have satisfied both needs.

The former first-round pick is having a tremendous year, slashing .308/.365/.496/.861 with eight home runs and 27 RBI. He plays right field and that would have fit nicely into the Phillies’ rotation, a move that would have enabled them to improve their offense and their defense appreciably.

Instead, he’ll try and help the Angels make a playoff push.

Perhaps knowing the market was tightening for Grichuk, the Phillies have also been linked to Boston outfielder Adam Duvall, along with Washington Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas.

Another potential target, Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger, was pulled off the trade market on Sunday.
