The Philadelphia Phillies are continuing their six game road trip against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. They were able to take game one of the series in a high scoring affair on Monday.

Prior to the game Tuesday, the Phillies' President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski, announced that their superstar Trea Turner has been placed on the paternity list.

It's likely that the shortstop will miss the final two games of this series as he takes time off to be with his wife Kristen Harabedian (now Kristen Turner) as they are expecting the birth of their second child.

Players placed on the paternity list can miss up to three games. After the conclusion of Philadelphia's series with the Padres, they host the Miami Marlins on Friday.

Turner was just named National Player of the Week after he  hit .423/.464/1.231 with six home runs and 14 RBI in six games. He's sitting on a season-high 15-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 27 of 28 games.

Having a player like that out of the lineup obviously hurts the Phillies on the field, but some things are bigger than the game of baseball like the birth of a child. So, congratulations to the Turner's!

Philadelphia has recalled utility man Weston Wilson from their Triple-A Lehigh Valley affiliate to fill out the 28-man roster. This is the second stint with the Phillies for Wilson after he was called up on Aug. 6. In his four appearances he hit .333/.636/.833 and his first major league home run.

The infielder/outfielder has had a dominant year at the Triple-A level, recording a slash line of .259/.364/.895 with 29 home runs and 77 RBI. The home run mark ties Rhys Hoskins for the most in Lehigh Valley history during a season.
