Phillies Playing Under Closed Roof in Game 4 of NLCS
The Philadelphia Phillies head into Game 4 of the NLCS trying to get back on track after a shocking dud from their offense.
Their potent offense throughout the postseason was quieted in a big way on Thursday, scoring only one run on three hits.
Out of the superstar sluggers in the lineup, only Trea Turner was able to register a hit in the first inning.
The Phillies opted for a surprising move when they didn't take on-field batting practice ahead of Game 3. They instead did their routines in the batting cages.
Philadelphia decided to do field work on Friday ahead of Game 4, going through their normal routines.
Another thing that will stay constant for the Phillies is the playing environment of Chase Field.
The roof was closed in Game 3, but was scheduled to be open for Friday's contest.
According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the roof will be closed once again for Game 4 because of weather temperatures in the Phoenix area.
The home stadium of the Arizona Diamondbacks has become much more pitcher friendly in recent years than when they first opened up the ballpark.
That could play into the advantage of the Diamondbacks who weren't able to slow down Philadelphia's offense during the first two games on the road.
With one game under their belt and more on-field activities taking place on Friday, the Phillies are hoping that they'll find their offensive magic once again.
They'll be facing a pitcher they're familiar with, Joe Mantiply, who came on in Game 2 of the series and gave up three earned runs.
Philadelphia counters with left hander Christopher Sanchez, who hasn't seen any action during the postseason.
