Phillies' Postseason Star Has Chance to Become Franchise Legend
The Philadelphia Phillies need to rebound in a massive way on Tuesday.
They completely dropped the ball in Game 6, having their bats go cold and putting together a poor pitching performance overall.
After seemingly having the momentum heading home to close out the NLCS, it's now the Arizona Diamondbacks who enter the must-win Game 7 feeling good about themselves.
But besides Zack Wheeler, is there anyone else that the Phillies would rather have on the mound for this pressure game than Ranger Suarez?
He's become a star in the postseason, posting the lowest ERA for a starting pitcher ever recorded with at-least five starts (0.94).
Through three starts in the 2023 MLB Playoffs, Suarez has a 1-0 record and 0.64 ERA through 14 innings.
That includes a shutout 5 1/3 inning performance in Game 3 where he allowed only three hits and struck out seven batters.
Suarez now has the chance to become a franchise legend if he continues his dominant postseason form on Tuesday night.
This will be the first Game 7 in Philadelphia's history.
Nervousness will permeate throughout the stadium as the highly anticipated game is taking place.
"It's my turn now. I'm excited to be on the mound [tonight]," the left hander said about his upcoming start.
His cool demeanor will be put to the test as everything taking place will be magnified that much more.
But, players in the clubhouse believe that Suarez will deliver.
"Anytime you’ve got Ranger on the bump, we’ve got a really good chance to win. He’s got a really good mindset out there. We know that he can go as long as he can and he’s going to get the job done for us," superstar Bryce Harper said.
Game 7 is when players can become legends.
Suarez and the Phillies have that opportunity on Tuesday night.
