The Philadelphia Phillies superstar Trea Turner was placed on the paternity list during their San Diego Padres series earlier in the week after his wife was expecting their second child.

Turner and his wife Kristen announced the birth of their son Tatum on Instagram Thursday after he was delivered.

The couple wrote, "Our newest addition, we couldn’t be more obsessed with you! Welcome to the family little Buddy."

Congratulations to the Turner family on the birth of their second child!

After that great news, the Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced that they have reinstated the superstar from the paternity list on Friday, ahead of their home weekend series against the Miami Marlins.

When the shortstop took his leave, he was coming off being named National League Player of the Week after recording a slash line of .423/.464/1.231 with six home runs and 14 RBI during a six game stretch.

He's also in the midst of a season-high 15-game hitting streak that has reminded fans why they were so excited for Turner so sign with Philadelphia in the offseason.

To make room on the roster, the Phillies have optioned utilityman Weston Wilson back down to Triple-A, where he is in the process of setting a single season record for most home runs in franchise history at that level. He tied the mark set by Rhys Hoskins in 2017.

Getting Turner back is a huge boost for the Philadelphia lineup during their final push of the season. Entering Friday, they hold a slim two-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for the top spot in the NL Wild Card Standings.
