Phillies' Star Catcher Predicted Harper's Birthday Home Run

The Philadelphia Phillies and Bryce Harper celebrated his 31st birthday in style as they secured a 5-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the NLCS. Their star catcher predicted that the superstar would have some magic for the game.

The Philadelphia Phillies got off to a dream start during Game 1 of the NLCS.

Kyle Schwarber, who struggled for much of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves, hit a home run on the first pitch of the game in the top of the first inning.

That was a prequel of things to come, as Bryce Harper followed that up with a moonshot of his own two batters later to extend their lead to two runs.

Coming into the game, there was some chatter about what "The Showman" would do on his 31st birthday.

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Phillies' star catcher knew exactly what Harper would do.

"J.T. Realmuto predicted during the Phillies’ hitters meeting that Bryce Harper would hit a home run on his birthday," Morosi posted on his social media page.

It was quite a birthday shot too.

The first inning blast traveled 420 feet, sending Citizens Bank Park into a frenzy that they were looking for since Monday began.

Harper became the fourth ever player to hit a home run on his birthday during the postseason.

He flashed a three with his left hand, a one with his right and blew out his fingers like they were candles as he crossed home plate.

Another iconic moment to add to the superstar's collection.

But in classic Harper fashion, he wasn't focused on anything besides the result during the postgame interview.

"We won the game, man. That's all I care about. Keep winning. It's a really good team over there," he told Matt Winer of TBS.

The superstar has now hit a home run in three consecutive games, only to be outdone by teammate Nick Castellanos who has hit five in that same span.

This Philadelphia offense is red hot and they'll look to continue that same level of hitting in Game 2 on Tuesday.
