Watch These Two Phillies Prospects in 2024

The Philadelphia Phillies have their eyes on these two young players as they enter the 2024 minor league season.
In this story:

MLB’s Spring Breakout games in March will gave baseball fans around the country the chance to see some of the best prospects in the game before they get to the Majors.

The Philadelphia Phillies will have a team, like everyone else, and it will be made of some of the top prospects in their organization.

But does that mean any of those players will break out for 2024 in the Majors?

It’s an interesting question that Phillies insider Matt Gelb of The Athletic was asked earlier this week. The questions wasn’t related to the Spring Breakout, but it could be, depending upon who the Phillies select for the game.

But, per Gelb, the Phillies do have two prospects they’re high on.

One is Bryan Rincon, a shortstop who ended his 2023 season with High Class-A Jersey Shore. It’s possible Rincon could play in the game as he is the Phillies’ No. 28 prospect per MLB.com.

Rincon played with Class-A Clearwater and Jersey Shore last season, where he slashed .234/.368/.361/.729 with eight home runs and 52 RBI in his first full minor league season.

The Phillies drafted him in the 14th round in 2022 out of Shaler Area High School in Pittsburgh. He’s not yet 20 and MLB.com projects him as a 2026 call-up. One aspect of his game that makes him attractive is his ability to switch-hit.

The other prospect is overseas but could also be at Spring Training in March. Catcher Eduardo Tait is the Phillies No. 23 prospect and he isn’t even 18 years old.

The international signee out of Panama played his first pro season in 2023 with both of the Phillies’ Dominican Summer League teams and slashed .333/.400/.517/.917 with three home runs and 36 RBI in 44 games. The next step for Tait might be a stint with the Phillies’ Florida Complex League team or, if the organization is feeling aggressive, Clearwater.

If these two prospects progress as the Phillies hope, then they will have more options in their infield in the next few seasons.
