The Philadelphia Phillies are the defending National League champions, and on Tuesday Major League Baseball released the 2023 postseason schedule, giving the Phillies a glimpse of what their path could be if they want to get back to the World Series.

If the Phillies are unable to catch the Atlanta Braves to win the National League East, the Phillies could end up in the Wild Card Series, which starts on Oct. 3, just two days after the end of the regular season.

The Phillies’ run to the World Series last season started in the Wild Card Series, where they beat the St. Louis Cardinals in two games. Philadelphia is hoping to reach the postseason in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2010-11, which capped a stretch of five straight postseason appearances, including their 2008 World Series title.

The Phillies would either host all three games or be on the road for all three games of the Wild Card Series, depending upon seeding.

If the Phillies are able to catch the Braves, they would likely have a record good enough to be one of the top two seeds and get a bye into the NL Division Series, which starts on Oct. 7.

The Wild Card playoffs are set for Oct. 3-5. The NL Division Series, a best-of-five series, will start on Oct. 7 and end no later than Oct. 14.

The NLCS, a best-of-7 series, will start on Oct. 16 and end no later than Oct. 24.

Should the Phillies get to the World Series, a best-of-seven series, it would start on Oct. 27 and end no later than Nov. 4.
