The Texas Rangers have 10 games remaining in the regular season, beginning with tonight's series opener against the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field.

The Rangers (84-68) and Mariners (84-68) are a half-game behind the Houston Astros (85-68) in the AL West, and a half-game behind the Toronto Blue Jays (85-67) for the second of three Wild Card spots. Toronto finishes with three games at the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend, then three at home against the Yankees, and three at home against the Rays.

How will it all play out? Here's a totally science-based set of predictions on the final 10 days of the regular season for each of the teams:

Texas Rangers (84-68): 3 at home vs. Mariners, 3 at Angels, 4 at Mariners

Prediction: The Rangers will continue their dominance of the Mariners this season by winning five of the final seven meetings, and taking two of three from the Angels to finish 91-71.

Houston Astros (85-68): 3 at home vs. Royals, 3 at Mariners, 3 at Diamondbacks

Prediction: The Astros will take two from the Royals and two from the Mariners, but lose two of three to the Diamondbacks to finish 90-72.

Seattle Mariners (84-68): 3 at Rangers, 3 at home vs. Astros, 4 at home vs. Rangers

Prediction: The Mariners will lose five of their final seven games against the Rangers, and lose two of three to the Astros to finish 87-75.

Final AL West standings:

  • Rangers 91-71
  • Astros 90-72
  • Mariners 87-75

About that Wild Card ...

The Blue Jays will finish 4-5, including losing four of six against the Rays and one of three against the Yankees, to finish 89-73.

Final AL Wild Card standings:

  • Rays 98-64
  • Astros 90-72
  • Blue Jays 89-73
